Catalytic Converters
Catalytic Converter Flow Bench Test Results

This is just the data and not a write up.  You can read the small discussion of results here, Catalytic Converters:  Ready, set, flow!

Tom (onfire) and I took the day off from work and flowed a bunch of Catalytic Converters.  First off, let me thank Tom for letting me come up and participate.

Also, a big thanks to Andy C. (Go FasTA) for letting us borrow his FLP cat at the last minute.

Finally, a big thanks to White Performance in Kingsport, TN for their patience and help. Joey did a great job and was very informative and I believe Brian came in to offer a helping hand when an extra set of hands were required.

This should get the attention of a lot of people that claim the Driver's Side cat is the high flow cat because it is also found on past Corvette's.  Not true.  We can see that the passenger side cat out flows the driver's side easily.  You never know til you flow, so help stop the bad information.

Actual Recorded Information
Exhaust pieces were flowed by blowing instead of pulling
Data Converted to 28"
CFM @ 20.4" Inches of H2O

CFM @ 28" Inches of H2O

Passenger Side Catalytic Converter  2.50" in/out 299.5 350.9
Driver's Side Catalytic Converter  2.50" in/out 268.3 314.4
TTS Bullet Catalytic Converter  2.50" in/out 277.1 324.6
Carsound Catalytic Converter  2.50" in/out 372.7 436.7
FLP Catalytic Converter  2.50" in/out 376.0 440.5
CFM @ 28" Pressure Drop was calculated by using the following formula

Where:

FR0 = Flow rate at original pressure drop (ft3/minute)
FR1 = Flow rate (ft3/minute)
PD0 = Original pressure drop (inches of H2O)
PD1 = Desired pressure drop (inches of H2O)
