Rear differential seal leak

I purchased the STAR Service Manual Library DVD today and the replacement seal that is leaking. The half shaft on the driver side where it enters the differential is leaking. The part number was 022-997-98-47 and cost me $10.50.

I am waiting on my jack pan scissor lift to arrive so I can raise the body of the car up on my lift so the rear axle will drop and give me access to the differtional and half shaft for repair.

That's right, you have to hurry up and wait. Check back in a week and see if I have made any progress (i.e. the lift has come in).

Yeah, another blog. Now you can read along on our adventures

This blog has been started so you can get a glimpse into what goes into writing an installation and more importantly, performing an installation for the first time. There is a lot of behind the scenes help from people around the globe. They have read about me doing 100 mph in my car with the transmission fluid being 1.5 qts low because I forgot to measure the level with the car running. They have also read along as I put off a fuel filter replacement for over a year because I could not find it. Don't laugh.

Basically, this will be random note taking and experiences not included in the install documents so I can remember the stuff I need too like part numbers and prices, and the not so fun stuff like screwing up.

So be sure to read along and enjoy the progress.
